La cura dei piedi nello sport: un gesto che fa la differenza

Foot care during sports: a gesture that makes a difference

When we talk about sports, especially running or mountain running, we often think of breath, muscles, and endurance. Rarely does attention focus on the feet. Yet they support every step, absorb the impact of the terrain, and continually adapt to different surfaces, elevation changes, and changes in pace.

When running on asphalt, the foot can make thousands of strides in a single workout. In trail running, in addition to repetition, it must manage climbs, technical descents, and uneven terrain. It's clear how much this part of the body is subjected to constant stress.

Yet foot care is often neglected, until a problem arises.

Wrong shoes: the first risk factor

Many discomforts arise from improper footwear. A shoe that's too tight compresses the toes and increases pressure on the nails and forefoot. A shoe that's too big, on the other hand, allows the foot to move excessively inside, generating constant friction.

Breathability also plays a key role. When the foot remains in a hot, humid environment for hours, the skin weakens, becoming more vulnerable and less resistant to rubbing.

The most common consequences are:

  • blisters

  • redness

  • skin thickenings

  • small cracks

  • traumatized nails

In most cases, these are not serious problems, but they can become annoying and compromise the enjoyment of sports activities.

Blisters aren't just a nuisance

A blister is the skin's natural response to repeated rubbing. When the skin is dehydrated or already stressed, the risk increases. And once it forms, even a small tear can make it painful to touch.

Discomfort often leads to unconscious changes in posture or weight distribution, creating a chain reaction of tension in the ankle, calf, or knee. This is why prevention is always the best strategy.

The skin of the foot must be:

  • elastic

  • well hydrated

  • whole

  • capable of regenerating rapidly

In other words, healthy.

Foot wellness as part of your sports routine

Taking care of your feet should be as natural as stretching or hydrating after a workout. It's not just a cosmetic gesture, but a way to show respect for your body.

After a run, especially if it's long or on challenging terrain, it's useful to dedicate a few minutes to:

  • wash and dry your feet thoroughly

  • check for any red areas

  • apply a specific treatment that nourishes and promotes skin recovery

It is at this stage that prevention is built.

FEET RELAX: targeted treatment for the athlete's foot

A tired foot needs three fundamental things: hydration, repair and freshness.

FEET RELAX was born with this very logic, combining functional active ingredients that work synergistically.

Shea butter deeply nourishes and improves skin elasticity. More elastic skin is more resistant to rubbing and less prone to chapping.

Allantoin has a soothing and healing effect, promoting the skin's natural regeneration process. It's especially useful after long outings or when skin appears red and stressed.

Peppermint essential oil provides an immediate sensation of freshness and lightness. After hours in shoes, this refreshing effect helps reduce the perception of fatigue and restores comfort to the foot.

Applied with a light massage, FEET RELAX becomes a small wellness ritual: a moment to slow down, listen to your body and promote recovery.

Treatment as a form of prevention

In running and trail running, well-being comes from attention to detail. There's no need to wait for a problem to appear before addressing it. Well-cared for, hydrated, and protected skin is less prone to irritation and more ready to tackle subsequent workouts.

Taking care of your feet simply means this: allowing your body to continue moving naturally, without unnecessary discomfort.

Because sport is first and foremost about balance, continuity, and well-being.
And everything, literally, starts from there.
