How to take care of the skin in outdoor sports?

The sun on the skin: benefits and risks

Sunlight improves mood. Adequate exposure to sunlight is necessary for many life processes that take place in the body.

Studies have in fact shown that the amount of serotonin, the good mood hormone, is higher on brighter days than on covered days.

Similarly, studies show that, if sun exposure is reduced, symptoms of depression, difficulty concentrating, low energy and excessive sleep can occur.

In small quantities, therefore, the sun is beneficial and essential. However, it is necessary to pay close attention to sun exposure, as the skin can suffer serious damage such as
sunburn, eye damage, premature skin aging and even skin cancer.

It is therefore essential to use a good sunscreen, to be applied thirty minutes before exposure to the sun's rays, and reapply throughout the day, about every two hours or after swimming or sweating.

But which one to apply? SPORTLAB MILANO has created ACTIVE SUN 30, the sunscreen designed to protect the skin from UV rays especially during sports. The active ingredient complex has been specially developed for the treatment of sun-stressed skin. Its composition neutralizes free radicals that damage skin cells thus effectively preventing the onset of damage from UV rays.

Sport and skin care in the summer

Also in summer it is important to practice sports, and with the beautiful days the desire to train outdoors increases. But with high temperatures it is necessary to be careful not to create health problems.

It is important to keep in mind that the exercises we usually do in the gym will require more effort if performed outdoors at high temperatures. It is therefore always better to initially reduce the duration and intensity of training, taking care to practice sports in the coolest moments of the day, avoiding the hottest hours, ie from 12.00 to 17.00.

Particular attention to the alarm bells that indicate a heat stroke: disorientation, confusion, labored breathing, red skin, cramps, dizziness, vomiting and fainting. In fact, heat stroke can be very dangerous, so immediate medical attention is needed.

In summer cleansing and hydration

Cleansing and hydration are the key words before exposing yourself to the sun. For this, the formulation of ACTIVE SUN 30 of SPORTLAB MILANO is designed for protect your skin from the sun during sports. Thanks to the combined action of Celligent®, an active ingredient for the protection of cells during sun exposure, Hydagen® Aquaporin, which provides constant hydration and Defensil®-Plus, which has an anti-reddening and soothing function, the ACTIVE SUN 30 it is ideal for all outdoor sports.

Giulia Toti, Italian Beach Volleyball champion, who is an expert in sports in the sun,  it is very faithful to ours ACTIVE SUN 30:

“Really enjoyed it. Despite the sweat it does not drip, and on the sand you sweat a lot! It protects and does not make me burn, it stays on the skin for a long time and is not greasy. "

Equally essential in summer, as well as throughout the year, is facial skin care. As we have said in previous articles, during physical activity it is in fact necessary to let the skin breathe; for this reason the hair should be kept away from the face, in order to avoid a stagnation of sweat on the forehead. SPORTLAB MILANO has indeed studied SPORTS BAND, a highly breathable elastic band, ideal to accompany you in any physical activity: the elastic fabric adapts well to the face and the particular micro-hole weave retains sweat making the skin breathe.

During and after training, let's not forget to drink! Staying hydrated is essential, so let's not forget to put a bottle full of water in the bag: during training, especially in summer, you tend to lose a lot of fluids that must be immediately replenished.
